Michael Martin – Program Coordinator and Adaptive Reconditioning Coach

Michael Martin is the Program Coordinator and Adaptive Reconditioning Coach at Adaptive Boxing Corporation and an Adaptive Sports Rehabilitation Specialist at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (2010–Present). He is a USA Boxing Coach (Green Level), a Certified Adaptive Recreation and Sports Specialist (CARSS), and holds American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED certification.

With field experience in adaptive sports programming dating back to 2004, Martin brings more than two decades of specialized practice to clinical and community-based settings. In his WRNMMC role within the Department of Rehabilitation, he designs and delivers adaptive boxing programming and recreational therapy for active-duty service members recovering from combat-related injuries—under the direct supervision of licensed occupational and physical therapists. His programming supports wounded warriors in re-establishing purpose, maximizing functional recovery, strengthening emotional regulation, and promoting successful community reintegration.

In 2019, Martin partnered with Derrick Bostic at Adaptive Boxing Corporation to translate his WRNMMC adaptive boxing expertise into community-based programming for veterans with service-connected disabilities. At ABC, he administers individualized adaptive boxing sessions aligned to each participant’s functional profile, applying evidence-informed modifications that account for injury history, physical limitations, and rehabilitation goals. He also coordinates adapted sports programming across multiple installation sites in full compliance with Department of Defense guidelines and established standards of care.

Concurrently, he serves as a Collegiate Boxing Coach at Urban Boxing Foggy Bottom in Washington, DC, extending his technical coaching expertise into the competitive arena. Together, these roles position him to deliver safe, standards-based adaptive boxing that bridges rehabilitation-focused practice and sustainable community participation.
